tips for living (with me)

You know, just in case. #1 If I ask you to please move, I do not mean to please continue to stand directly in front of me and look confused. If the volume of my request increases while the cordiality of the request simultaneously decreases and I say something like, “Get out of my way,” [...]

go away…

And today the ice seriously starts to melt. I was aiming at getting a couple glitter shots but my timing was a bit off. This one, though, if you view in it’s larger size is kind of glittery! I hope that the other people who’ve been caught in the storms are recovering and warm.

baby it’s cold outside…

…and inside. Could have been worse. At the time that I took that photo yesterday afternoon, they were predicting 1-2 inches of sleet accumulation, 2-3 inches of snow and a 1/4 inch of ice. I’d say the 1/4 inch of ice was fairly accurate and we ended up with maybe an inch of sleet. We [...]

staying motivated

An article at The Happiness Project talked about ways to keep yourself exercising. Since exercise is one of my most difficult areas – I think perhaps she wrote it for me. I found her tips interesting though I think she neglects to consider that not all things work for all people. “If at all possible, [...]

a better door

Stasia spends a couple mornings each week sitting on top of the desk, blocking the computer screen. She likes to lay down and roll around, rubbing my fingers as I try to type as well. The fact is, it’s hard for her to choose. Should she see what interesting typos she can cause or prevent [...]

wednesday

I can’t let yesterday go without some comment. I can’t remember the last time I felt such hope for our country. It seems to me that we are at a moment of real potential – if we can put aside the petty differences, let go of partisan politics and really work together again – anything [...]

the power of gradual

One of my new favorite blogs had a great post the other day called The Power of Gradual. It struck me since I’ve often claimed my middle name is “I want it now.” Simple ideas. “There are no quick fixes. Making change in your life takes time.” “When you work at something day in and [...]

brightening my day

My friend Lel sent me flowers yesterday – just because. She said she thought I deserved some flowers, too… I love getting flowers. When I was hospitalized after my accident I got a lot of flowers but other than that, I’ve only been sent flowers two or three times in my life. Once in a [...]

how do you treat yourself?

I started getting way off track last night – as I’ve said, I never know exactly where I’m going when I start to write something – so I cut this bit out to expand on today. I’ve been setting weekly goals over at DRT and been having some trouble coming up with immediate, short term [...]

don’t forget the fun

I know it’s not Friday but that’s just the kind of super fun spontaneous person I am! I was reading an email earlier and had an epiphany. I’ve got great goals, I’m working hard, I’m doing well, and I’m feeling serious about things practically all the time. What happened to the fun? I truly believe [...]
