I wrote quite a long post over atChickens and Eggs today on Cheater’s BBQ. I’m counting that toward NaBloPoMo but I wanted to say a couple things here, as well.
Now that I’m officially on the blogroll, I got a nifty new NaBloPoMo badge designed by Tracey at Pretty Little Things. Feel free to admire it! It’s much niftier than the little text badge I was using.
I have learned a semi-strange thing about my eating over the past couple weeks and even though I’ve been sick, and thus eating a bit strangely this week, I’ve been experimenting with it. Normally, I serve myself small portions, mostly because I don’t trust my ability to stop eating when I’m full. I noticed, however, that when I’m in a restaurant and I’m served obviously too much food, it’s pretty easy to stop when I feel full. At home, even when I’m full, I tend to keep eating on those small portions because there’s “just a couple bites left.” Oh yeah, I was trained to clean my plate.
So now I’m trying to serve myself a little more. The lap-band rule is to eat the protein first then consider the vegetables and whatever else. So far, I think I’m eating less because when I reach full, I have enough left on my plate that I don’t automatically think I should finish it. It’s an interesting piece of eating psychology and I’m curious to see where it goes. Of course, it’ll make logging my food a little more challenging but what’s life without challenge?
