happy d-blog day

It’s almost the end of d-blog day but happy d-blog day anyway. I hardly feel like a diabetes blogger these days though it still plays an important role in my life. Losing weight has made a huge difference for me. I need a little help from metformin to help my body use the insulin it produces but I’m off all other diabetes medications. I don’t think that much about what I eat diabetes-wise anymore, since what I eat lap-band wise goes a long way toward cutting out most carbohydrates anyway. A little more than a year ago we were looking at adding short acting insulin to the long acting insulin I was already taking. Who knew so much could change in a year?

Today was a busy but good day. Yes, I still sound like Mickey Mouse but I’m feeling pretty good. And this morning was one of those odd times that when I looked in the mirror on my way out of the house, I could suddenly see the weight loss. I’m not slender yet, but I was looking pretty damn good. Maybe it was the new jeans or maybe it was just that I was having a good hair day. It was a good feeling and it’s one that doesn’t last. Some days I feel fatter than others.

Got my shopping done. Tried to sell Mike at my health food store on the idea of carrying my powdered peanut butter so I can buy it locally. Ate a nice salad at Chili’s for lunch and went to support group tonight. One of my friends there sent home three bags of clothes with me. What I don’t want or doesn’t fit I’ll pack up with the rest of the stuff I’ll take to the thrift shop in a couple weeks. I forgot to take the cat food that Stasia won’t eat back to the store. I guess it can sit in my car another couple weeks!

I’m very happy to hear that you need so much less medicine these days. That is quite a wonderful side effect of losing the weight!

I’m glad you mentioned the peanut butter powder again. I forgot to order it and I really want to try it.

I’ve been sounding a bit like Mickey Mouse for a couple days now, too. My daughter and my Aunt were laughing so hard at me this morning that I thought they would both pass out. It can’t possibly be that funny! I”M not laughing. I’m glad to hear you are off your diabetes meds! Kudos to you for all your hard work.

Thank you both! I’ll be curious to hear whether you like the peanut butter powder, Hannah. It’s a big hit with me but I don’t know anyone else who has tried it. Plus I’ve managed to almost use up my supply without trying any of the recipes and sauces I had planned!

I know what you mean Eve. I worked in an office at one time when I had Mickey Mouse voice for weeks and my friends and co-workers were calling me up just so they could giggle when I answered the phone!
