When WordPress 2.1 was released, a number of plugins were not working. One of my favorites was Zelig’s Dropdown Links. My good friend TDW re-wrote the plugin based on Zelig’s.

Download Version 0.02alpha
Version 0.02alpha was updated for WordPress 2.3 and added the ability to simply adjust the look and functionality of the dropdown boxes. You have the choice between javascript to create the dropdown boxes or disable javascript and use Go buttons. You can use the html section of the plugin to change color or other style.

Download Version 0.03alpha
Version 0.03alpha adds widgets functionality and the realization that CSS customization is dead easy. We wish we’d realized how easy the CSS was last time! Version 0.03alpha is not backwards compatible with WordPress versions prior to 2.3.

Since the release of WordPress 2.5+, Version 0.03alpha has had issues with IE7. It works fine in Firefox but (at least with my theme) causes the link names to flicker on and off in IE.

Installation

• Download your prefered version
• Extract the tdw-combobox-links.php file into the plugins directory in your WordPress installation (wp-content/plugins).
• Activate this plugin in your WordPress administration panel.
• For use with the standard sidebar, put call into appropriate template page, usually in sidebar where you want the old link call to be replaced.
• For use as a widget (version 0.03alpha only), put the “dropdown links” widget in your sidebar in the presentation section of your admin panel.

Special Note: We never planned to offer support for the plugin although TDW has done new versions when he has had the time. At some point, a new version may happen. We’re happy to try to answer questions and we’d love it if someone figured out the problem with IE and told us how to fix it!

And another notes: This is really not a new release – it was an update of the url for plug-in page. No cause to get all excited.
